CABLEONE SPAM FILTER
by Ray Carlson

Some of our members have informed us about the fact that their weekly email newsletter often ends up in their CableOne spam filter.  In an effort to solve this problem, we have included some material from the CableOne website.

Please be aware of two important items:

1)  The limit of 4,000 characters is the TOTAL allowed for both the Approved Senders and Approved Domains sections.  If you add names here and the mail still gets caught in the spam filter, you have probably reached your limit and must remove some other names.

2)  The PCS weekly newsletter is mailed from:

If you have trouble receiving the newsletter, please see that this address is added to your Approved Senders list.

To ensure that messages from close family, friends, and important colleagues aren't quarantined as junk email, add them to your Approved Senders list. Messages from approved senders bypass junk email filters and are delivered to your inbox, regardless of junk-like content. In particular, add valid senders whose messages have junk-like content and might otherwise be quarantined.

If you try to approve a sender and get a weird error message saying something about it being too long an address to approve, this means that the Approved Senders list is full. In this case, you must delete a name or name(s) on your existing list.

1. Enter each sender you want to approve in the Approved Senders box. Separate each address with a comma (,) semicolon (;) or line break.

2. Or, to remove an address from the list, simply select it, and then click the Delete button on your keyboard.

3. Click "Update Approved Senders."

Material from the CableOne website:

Q.  Cable One Spam Patrol™ quarantined an e-mail I want to always receive, how do I always allow this e-mail?
A.  Go to http://myspam.cableone.net and log in. Then click on the Cable One Spam Patrol™ icon. The screen displayed is your quarantined e-mail. Check the box next to the desired mail then click DELIVER. The next screen click the box ADD APPROVED then click CONTINUE. The e-mail is then delivered to your inbox and the e-mail address is an approved sender.

Q.  Can I approve a specific sender?
A.  Yes, on the Cable One Spam Patrol™ Web site http://myspam.cableone.net select "Settings" and then click "Approve Senders." You can create a list of Approved senders. Also, you can approve an e-mail from an entire domain. For example, if you enter SpecialOffers.com as an Approved Sender, all usernames from SpecialOffers.com will be delivered to your inbox.

Q.  What is the maximum number of entries I can place in the Approved Senders and the Approved Domains lists?
A.  These lists are not based on entries, but on number of characters. There is a 4000 character limit shared by both lists.

Q.  What happens if I don't review the Cable One Spam Patrol™ web page.
A.  Quarantined e-mail will automatically delete after 14 days. You will receive an e-mail reminder from Cable One Spam Patrol™ that you have quarantined e-mail for review. We suggest you review quarantined mail regularly just in case an e-mail you wanted to receive is quarantined.

Q.  How can I always allow a certain email address to be delivered no matter what?
A.  Yes, go to http://myspam.cableone.net and log in. Then click on the Cable One Spam Patrol™ icon. At the top of the Cable One Spam Patrol™ screen click on Settings, then click Approve Senders. Type the e-mail address and then click UPDATE APPROVED SENDERS.
